Telomeres are a DNA sequence at the tip of a cell's chromosome in human beings. Think of them as little caps that protect our chromosomes from deterioration which is associated with aging and disease.
In recent years, shorter telomeres have been associated with a broad range of age-related diseases including some forms of cancer, dementia, stroke, cardiovascular disease, obesity, osteoporosis,and diabetes.
